Prices (August 2011)

  • Fuel: diesel is € 1,28 per liter

  • Camping: between € 7 and € 13 per night for 2 persons

Visa

  • For Europeans no visa needed. Passport must be valid for at least 3 months.

Border crossing

  • Both entry and exit was easy.

  • For driving you need to pay Eco tax (€10 per car)

Highlights or not

  • Durmitor NP: we had to pay €2 per person on the pass. This might be a scam. The park is definity worth a visit. The surroundings are spectacular.

  • Ulcinj: Should be a great beach spot. We drove on because it was too crowded.
  • Sveti Stefan: Small island with white houses and terra cotta roofs. We liked this part of the Montenegran coast. The village itself cannot be visited unless you are a guest of the hotel on the island.
  • Kotor: Unesco village. Beautiful old center.
  • Bay of Kotor: Most southern Fjord in Europe. Beautiful Bay with many nice villages

Tips

  • When you drive off road from Gusinje (Montenegro) to Vermosh (Albania), note that the last petrol station is in Plav.

Roads

  • From Bosnian border to Trsa: good tarmac. Beautiful road through a gorge. A drive along great blue waters

  • From Trsa to Zabljak: A very beautiful stretch. The route leads through Durmitor NP. One of the best drives in Montenegro. The road is good tarmac.
